In a treat for heavy metal enthusiasts, former Judas Priest guitarist and founding member K.K. Downing has unveiled a brand new version of the band’s early track, “Never Satisfied.” The song, which features powerhouse vocals from another former Priest frontman, Tim “Ripper” Owens, offers a fresh perspective on a deep cut from the Birmingham heavy metal legends’ 1974 debut album, *Rocka Rolla*.

While “Never Satisfied” first appeared on *Rocka Rolla*, its history stretches back even further. Co-written by Downing and Judas Priest’s original lead vocalist Al Atkins, the song was a staple in the band’s live set even before Rob Halford joined their ranks. This new rendition sees Downing revisiting his roots, inspired by the recent 50th-anniversary reissue of *Rocka Rolla*, which saw the album receive a full remix.

Downing reportedly approached the re-recording with a sense of playful exploration. “I just had fun doing it and I thought I would put the track down and ask Ripper if he’d do the courtesy of throwing a vocal on there,” he shared, highlighting the organic nature of the collaboration. Owens, known for his powerful and high-pitched delivery during his tenure with Judas Priest in the late 90s and early 2000s, brings a distinct energy to the track while honoring the original melodies.

This new take on “Never Satisfied” not only serves as a nostalgic nod to Judas Priest’s formative years but also showcases the continued musical chemistry between Downing and Owens, who now front their own band, KK’s Priest. It’s a testament to the enduring power of these early metal compositions and a welcome addition for fans eager to hear fresh interpretations of the genre’s foundational material. The track is now available for streaming and download.
