In a significant development for the legacy of The Beatles, Rolling Stone and other major music outlets have reported that Apple Corps Ltd., the company founded by the Fab Four in 1968, has officially appointed Tom Greene as its new Chief Executive Officer. The announcement, made on July 1, 2025, marks a new chapter for the iconic band’s business and creative interests. Greene is set to officially begin his tenure in September 2025.
Tom Greene steps into a role previously held by Jeff Jones, who departed in October 2024 after 17 years at the helm. He becomes only the third CEO in Apple Corps’ storied history, following Neil Aspinall, a close confidant of the band, and Jones.
Greene brings a wealth of experience from his prior roles in managing major global franchises. Most notably, he served in leadership positions within the Harry Potter franchise, including running Pottermore Publishing and Wizarding World Digital, a joint venture with Warner Bros. His work there involved expanding the Harry Potter Fan Club to over 50 million members through immersive digital experiences and extensive content. More recently, Greene was the COO of BLAST, a competitive entertainment company focused on esports, which saw significant growth under his leadership.
The appointment has been met with enthusiasm from the surviving Beatles and the estates. Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison, and Sean Ono Lennon issued a joint statement expressing their excitement: “We are thrilled to welcome Tom Greene as CEO. We have a lot of exciting plans and Tom’s experience and vision make him the perfect person to join us in making it all happen.”
Greene himself has voiced his deep admiration for The Beatles, noting he grew up in a household obsessed with their music. He emphasized his excitement about exploring new and innovative ways to bring the band’s “unique magic to all generations of fans,” suggesting a forward-thinking approach that will embrace new technologies and creative ventures, potentially including the recently announced four-part Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes.
